Vegan Thanksgiving Pledge to Volunteer!

On Sunday, November 20th at 2pm Community Solidarity

Yesterday's Thanksgiving Bonanza was an amazing and beautiful success. For as far as the eye could see spanned a crowd of thousands. All those who came were greeted one by one by volunteers who filled their grocery bags with baking mixes, cranberry sauce, diapers, pet food and other needed thanksgiving supplies. Some volunteers greeted the crowd by ladling soup, pouring lattes, putting together bags of clothing and even playing music for those waiting on line. It was the largest vegan thanksgiving ever, it was the largest event we've ever organized and it was awe inspiring.

Vegan ThanksgivingThe Information:

On Thanksgiving Day, November 26th, you're invited to share lunch with Community Solidarity in Farmingville at our weekly Food Share location off Horseblock Rd. (the address is listed below).

Be warned, this is a long story, but one we at Community Solidarity truly hope you’ll read through. This is a chronicle of just a single day of our mission to build community and feed the hungry. We’re sharing it to teach all of you about our community, to hear your thoughts, your critique and to stoke your engagement. If you like what you read, please donate some much-needed funds, or of more importance, your time.

Let's talk about the BIG PICTURE. Community Solidarity, Inc. does so so so much! We're a grassroots organization made up of over a thousand volunteers, we share millions of pounds of food each year and we've helped Tens of Thousands of people across Long Island and the NYC/Metropolitan area.

How do we do all this? Simple, we do it with you're help. It's all been with your help, be it sharing groceries, organizing a clothing drive or spreading the word to your neighbors. We're all about Community Solidarity. .p>

We are so excited to tell all of our supporters that through your generous donations we have reached our goal and recently purchased a brand new Ram Promaster Cargo Van!! Now, we can now pick up more food, more efficiently and serve more of our neighbors!

This was made possible not through the contributions of a few but through the contributions of many which is appropriate since that is what we are all about!

Get the tools you need to become a fundraiser for our crowdfunding campaign and help Community Solidarity get the vehicle it needs to feed more people.
It's Back-2-School season and there are families across Long Island struggling to get their kids the school supplies they need. Unfortunately, for many of our neighbors this can be a costly burden to overcome. Purchases of notebooks, backpacks, and sneakers add up quickly creating added stress for many in our community. People may not realize that the average American family spends nearly $600 per child on back-2-school supplies. So, with that in mind, Community Solidarity is taking action. How can you help? 1.

Sharing Food:

Share food and clothing with Long Island Food Not Bombs

Long Island Food Not Bombs picks up food from restaurants, health/food stores, farmers markets, farms, community farm shares, bakeries, wholesale outlets, factories and where ever else you can think of. We can also arrange pick ups at your convenience on a weekly, bi-weekly or individual basis.
