Volunteering Deep Dive | Community Solidarity

What do volunteers do at Community Solidarity food shares?

Volunteers help unload trucks with food, set up folding tables and distribution supplies, and they help distribute groceries to people waiting on our lines.

I just signed up to volunteer on your website! What happens next?

You’re on your way to fighting hunger and food waste with us! You will receive an email from us detailing how you can help. All you’ve go to do next is show up at one of our distribution locations.

Do I need to bring anything?

You don’t need to bring anything with you to volunteer. Be advised though, all our food share locations are outside regardless of the weather, so dress appropriate for being out in the elements for a few hours.

Do I need to transport any groceries in my car?

Nope! Transporting groceries in your vehicle is not a requirement, but if you’re interested in using your vehicle for donation pickups, please let us know when you come to volunteer.

What is the minimum age to volunteer?

There is no minimum age to volunteer, but we do require 1 adult for every 2 children under the age of 13.

Can I bring my friend, family, group, or child?

Yes, all our welcome and we’d love the help! We do need each volunteer over the age of 12 to register separately online so that we have an accurate count of volunteers and have every volunteer properly registered. You must use a different email address for each individual volunteer.
